Quote:
Continental Tire Canada has introduced the General Grabber APT, an all-purpose-terrain tire with Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake certification. General Grabber APT is designed specifically for on-road, off-road and snow performance which also makes it an all-year round, all-weather product...

“We think this new all-weather product will start to fill in the demand gap in the Canadian market for an all-year round tire. General Grabber APT is a perfect fit even during winter for consumers living close to or in the city, such as Greater Toronto Area, Vancouver city and even Montreal”, said Okan Sen, General Tire’s Director of Marketing.

Also sold in the USA, but marketed as a "all purpose terrain" tire, and not as a "all weather" tire.

Used them on the 2013 Peking to Paris Rally. >8,500 miles on the toughest terrain imaginable. No issues! Great tires!

You aren't talking about the tires mentioned by the OP

which are Grabber APT tires.

A general reference/endorsement of General Grabber tires. AT & APT are step-tires!

Of course, the Grabber line is for trucks only. So still no car all-weather tire from Continental in the US. Aren't there already "not winter only" truck tires that have the 3-peak symbol? I think some A/T and M/T tires have it.

But will the new APT be better than the Toyo Celsius CUV or WRG3 SUV or Quatrac 5 SUV? For the truck sizes (the sizes of Toyo's Celsius CUV), all are US-made. (The car sizes, Toyo Celius "non CUV" are made in Malaysia)

Too me the tread pattern seems quite odd.

Normal AT patterns can easily meet mountain/snowflake.

Just take a look at the falken wildpeak at3w or general grabber at.

Since this is a pretty "radical" tread pattern I'd like to think its for
all-weather performance and not just looks but who knows at this point.

Here is how General Tire (USA) sees this tire:

Quote:
...Continental says that on the aggressiveness chart, the Grabber APT holds the spot in between the current all-terrain G Grabber AT2 and the highway-terrain G Grabber HTS60. This tire is the perfect blend of all-terrain, off-road capability and excellent on-road performance designed for all weather conditions, according to the company.

Travis Roffler, director of marketing for the General brand, expects the Grabber APT will be a popular tire for those drivers looking for a tire that is mostly driven on the road during the week but can hold its own during weekend adventures. “It offers the best of both worlds with very strong on-road manners but still enough off-road capability to get the job done.”

...Comfort Balance Technology provides a cushioned tread that absorbs road disturbances for a more comfortable and pleasant ride. Grooves in the tread are angled away from the center grooves to help dissipate sound which provides a quiet ride....
