Clutch Engagement Point very beginning of pedal?

What does it indicate when the clutch engagement point, when it hooks up, is right at the beginning of the pedal's travel such as you're bringing the pedal up from floor and it doesn't hook up until right near the end when it's time for your foot to come off? Pedal feels fine, not soft or hard, just steady.
 
Is there any adjustment possible?

I hate that even more than when it engages near the floor (as soon as you start coming up from the floor.)

Yes, except without the extra release travel after hook-up. Hook-up like right at the end of release travel or something.

Hydraulic clutch, should have mentioned. Would say air bleed but pedal travel feels steady and consistent, just the engagement point seems to have moved out?
 
Usually means the clutch is nearing the end of it's life and the friction material on the disk and pressure plate is used up; as it wears away, the fingers on the pressure plate will actually move outward and the release fork will also move outward to compensate for the space that was once occupied with friction material. So the pressure plate/clutch fork/release bearing will actually travel more - hence engaging at the top of the pedal.

If it's bothering you, you can likely adjust the master cylinder push rod where it hooks to the pedal; you'd want to take out some length in the pushrod, and then adjust the pedal height down. But you'd have to readjust it to where it was when/if you need to get a new clutch.

Been through this very thing with my Corolla. After getting a new clutch, it engages right off the floor and had to readjust the master cylinder pushrod and pedal height to get some more travel.
 
Another possibility is there isn't enough freeplay in the pedal and at rest, the master cylinder piston is blocking the port to the reservoir and after driving, you're getting what's called "clutch pump up"

"I've got the exact same thing going on with my '90. I actually replaced the clutch thinking it might have been the pressure plate, but that didn't fix it. I've got a new (within 6 months) master and slave and a stainless steel braided clutch line. I haven't removed the damper box yet.

The big thing I'm trying to figure out is if it's in the hydraulics or something else. maybe something going on with the fork?

Looks like there are a lot of people having this problem. 2g DSMs apparently had a problem called "pump-up". This occurred due to poor adjustment of the clutch rod. If the rod was adjusted so that it's too far out, there's a valve that will never release and pressure just keeps building every time the clutch is depressed. I don't know how our cylinder's compare, but it sounds pretty close.

I'd try bleeding it and see if it improves. OTOH as mentioned the clutch might be nearing the end of its life.

Is this your Moto Guzzi or a car? If it's the bike then you may have some adjustments since it is hydraulic. I know on bikes with cable clutches, you can't adjust the bite point unless you buy some expensive compound lever.
