Hello BITOG,

I was walking through Kroger and saw they had Pennzoil High Mileage oil on closeout for $2.99/qt. I just change the oil in my Camry but if his seems like a decent deal I might pick it up. They had six bottles left on the shelf.

Figured I'd ask!

Do it, Man! You could always use it in the lawnmower, if nothing else.

It's not a screaming deal, but if you need it, get it. Walmart has Pennzoil Conventional High Mileage on Rollback at the moment for $15.27 for a 5qt. jug. You'd save 32 cents with this plus you'd have individual quarts. Perfect for topping off or the mower or if you just prefer 1 quart bottles (like me). Kinda glad I don't have a Kroger near by because I'd probably see if they had these and I really don't need any more oil right now.

Doesn't qualify for any mfg rebates. You can still buy Pennz Plat (and PP HM in some stores) for $22 a jug less $10 per rebate...and come out around $2.50/qt. My Walmart was offering a closeout yesterday on 10w-30 PP HM. It showed still in stock but had to be ordered (free shipping). Would be a good deal if I didn't already buy 2 jugs of 10-30 Defy HM for $6.98 at AAP (after rebate will be $1.98 per jug). At worst, my lawn mower is set for years.

It's okay...not worth jumping on unless you need it....

Why bother you can get NAPA full synthetic for $3.49 a quart until the end of the month.
Which is really Valvoline SynPower.

Also the Mobil 1 rebate is still on, $12 off a 5 quart jug and it's about $22.88 at Walmart so $10.88 for 5 quarts of synthetic til the end of Oct.

I figured as much. I saw Closeout and got excited haha. With my Camry I'm doing 6 mos/3,000 mile OCI so I'm set for now. By and large I've found the 5 qt jug (of almost any oil) to be a far better value than individual quarts.

I'll probably pass on this one. Thanks for the heads up!

Patience is a virtue.
If this oil doesn't move at these prices, it'll get marked down to a lower price.
I noticed this at our local Krogier, so this may reflect a national change to a different name brand oil to compliment the store brand, which looks pretty good in a PQIA VOA.

A valid point indeed. Honestly I was surprised to see motor oil at Kroger; I had never even considered them as a retailer of automotive products. I'll check it every visit going forward!
