There are certain times and patterns to walmart, amazon, autozone, etc where they put oil on sale. Could we create a sticky that collect these typical times for major oil retiailers?

Auto Zone tends to do a end of year clearance, AAP does too.

Walmart, Amazon, who knows, whatever pleases them, and many times are local only.

Like yesterday I got a gallon jug of Maxlife ATF on clearance at Walmart for $10.
No point in posting it since most stores do not even have Maxlife ATF on the shelf.

They all also will sometimes have online pricing mistakes that last for only a few hours, many times with the orders cancelled (but sometimes not).

Just check here periodically if you really want a deal. Slickdeals is OK to watch as well, but here tends to get them first, especially the smaller things.

Futures contracts for crude oil are traded at the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX), Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), Dubai Mercantile Exchange (DME), Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), India's National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange (NCDEX) and the Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM).

AZ's end of year clearance is by far the best deal IMO. $1 to $2 a quart with the possibility of also submitting rebates. You may have to do some searching from store to store though.

Sometimes WM has great deals online. ($22.50 for (3) 5 quart jugs of Synpower 5w30.) When Meijer has their sales, they do beat WM in store though. Typically, you can get oil and a filter for what WM charges for just the oil. They also have Mperks.

WM and Rural King have the best everyday prices IMO.

Yes, #1 Autozone at the end of the year. Other than that, check here or find the deals in the local area yourself.

I've noticed Advance Auto has oil on clearance all throughout the year. I just missed Royal Purple for $1.75/qt last week. Gold bottle Castrol Edge has been $4.25/qt for a few weeks and might drop to $2-something soon. Just gotta wait popcorn

Advance Auto ( dba CarQuest here ) recently seems to be doing what K Mart did for awhile...that is having select brands / grades on sale every week or month where they never did that before. Chalk it up to the Amazon / retail competition effect.

Because of a post I saw on here, I dropped in the other day and happily enough they had QSUD on sale for $4/quart. Not an earth shattering price but a good deal if ( like me ) you only needed two quarts...as two singles would've cost me almost $13 at the local WM that's ten miles away.

Unfortunately, trying to make sticky is not automatic.
Somebody have to do it.

There was a member that posted all the part store sales at one time when it comes out.
The guy got flamed all the time because of part store bad sales which was not his fault.
So he stopped posting.
It is like he created the sales but he has no control over it.

Sometimes member here are funny and demanding.
So, OP, since you have the idea, you can volunteer?

AZ does skip a year every once in a while. This last years sale was late and not the greatest, but not bad (most oils were down to $2/qt, previous years had gotten down to a $1/qt price, even for premium synthetics).

I talked to the manager awhile back and mentioned the end of year sale.
He said don't count on it this year.
He didn't elaborate.
One can only hope.

Most managers don't have a clue when the sale is even happening at the time it is actually happening.
