The other day the dryer drum belt busted. In the process of replacing it I decided to clean out the entire machine. I vacuumed and blew out all the nooks and crannies and the exhaust pipe.

After a new belt was put in and it was running like new again I was looking at the exhaust going outside.
It is this.

Is there a 'better' way to exhaust it outside? Straight out with louvers seems more efficient.

That is good style and the main thing is to keep the routing as short as possible and avoid hard bends.

I have this one, i do have to clean lint off the grille, but its easy to do.

I don't like the ones with the covers, they clog a lot easier. Also, If you happen to have a gas dryer, I wouldn't use it either. I use the metal ones with the round cover when its not running.

Those vents with grills get clogged up.

Came here to post this as well.

Powdercoated galvanized steel construction. The door is held tightly closed with magnets to prevent unwanteds from getting in but freely swings open when the dryer is on. Manually lifting the door presents a wide open vent for cleaning. Easy retrofit install. Comes in three colors.

$40 is a bit on the spendy side compared to plastic pieces, but after seeing how easy it is to install, how well it works, and how nice it looks, I'd spend it again and again.

I have not seen this! I am going to check it out.

I have one similar to the Lowes link. Maybe even bought it at Lowes. As others mentioned, it does clog. Unclogging takes about 2 minutes a couple of times a year. I like it as keeping rats, mice, and who knows what out of the house is a priority.

How about a recommendation for the flexible hose also? The dryer exhaust port and the wall outlet are offset and the dryer needs to be pulled out before I can go behind it. So I have to use a flexible hose. The one there right now is the cheapest builder grade and if I go through the trouble, I want to replace it with a better quality one.
