Looking at going to either Bermuda or Hawaii at this point, any reason to pick one or the other? Any other recommendations, we are on a budget.

Hawaii is great, spent 4 nights in Oahu and 5 nights in Maui. Very safe and very beautiful.
Bermuda, pick your dates carefully, weather isn't the best late fall through to Spring.
Non-all inclusive destinations can be very pricey food wise - do your research. Heard of $1500 a day for food at Atlantis for a family of 4.
Went to Jamaica a couple years ago for 7 nights, enjoyed it. But wouldn't want to leave the resort unescorted.
Awesome resort, and close to airport. Some resorts like Negril can be quite a drive to get to.
Google "Secret's St.James Montego Bay".

From Fla., I'd go to the Caribbean. It may not be quite as special and feel as exotic as far as distance, but you'll have two whole days extra you won't loose in travel. That's valuable to me. You can find some wonderful places in the Caribbean that rival Hawaii IMO.

I got married in Florida once. I/we looked for a decent honeymoon option and went to San Juan, then to Culebra for some real peace and quiet.

I assume you're saying this because of the hurricane. It sounds like most of the Bahamas is actually in pretty good shape.

I am not sure an update from the tourism industry is the best source of accurate news...this link requires reading between the lines.

Seeing how you're already in Florida (no need for airfare), have you considered a Caribbean cruise? 7 day'ers are nice. They're cheap too.

What time of year are you going?

BERMUDA ! Closer, cheaper and the people are super super friendly ! Been there 3 times, absolutely LOVE IT !

Realistically, there are places in Florida that are very similar to the Caribbeans. It'd be like someone living in eastern Kentucky taking a vacation in West Virgina = why bother? Hawaii has mountains. I'd go to the Grand Canyon, Washington DC or San Francisco, Yellowstone, maybe a scenic train voyage

We looked into Bermuda and read that it can be too cool in the winter for comfortable ocean swimming.
We were married and had our honeymoon on St John and just learned that the resort that hosted our ceremony will be closed for the rest of the year due to Irma. It's actually not quite the same place as it was devastated by another hurricane not long after we were married and was rebuilt by a different owner...we have returned twice (10th and 20th anniversaries) and taken pictures at the beachside gazebo that replaced the one where we took our vows, looks exactly the same as the one in our wedding photos.
The only thing that has kept us from Hawaii is the travel time, have never heard a bad thing about it except for overcrowding on some islands.

Especially since you are in FL I would look to the Caribbean area for a destination. With. Honeymoon it's usually someplace warm, a beach, & a few activities, eating too.

Yes, they just had the hurricane, keep that in mind. One of my favorite places is Aruba, no where near this latest hurricane. It's safe, unless maybe out drinking with strangers at 2:00A.M. Do a search for one of the better resorts.

A bit easier, and possibly even less expensive, is an 'all inclusive' in Punta Cana Dominican Republic . Hawaii is great but a fair bit more $$ and a good distance further. Punta Cana just had the edge of Irma go by, should be about zero damage.
