Came across this(was mentioned in a post awhile back have also read about elsewhere online). For about $13 looks to be handy for keeping an eye on battery and alternator health. With a plug socket with clamps could even use with battery not installed.

I bought one to monitor the last throes of a battery.
The LEDs are a bit bright at night, but I thought it was the best in class of those types of gadgets, since I wanted a meter without the frills of charging ports many of the them have.
I have a clamp/socket harness, but I haven't tried the meter with it. Of course, the reading from an interior socket will be slightly different.

From what I can tell it seems like a quality one. Good reviews online also. Say it is accurate also.
