How to calculate mixed oil/multi grade/straight ?

I added half a quart of 60wt to 6.5 quarts of 10w30.

What Did the new oil weight become?

And how can i calculate things like this in the future?

What are the actual viscosities of the oils that you used?

There are viscosity calculators online. You can search them out.

The high temperature viscosity will be the only thing you will be able to calculate.
The W-viscosity can only be guessed at.

Well this may not be perfect...I suppose viscosities should be used but this is close enough:

its a simple ratio: (.5 x 60) + (6.5 x 30) = 7.5X

so X = [(.5 x 60) + (6.5 x 30)]/7.5
solve for x you will get 32.14

How about you just tell us what they (the oils that you used) were.

(besides, if you know the answer to the question that you asked, what is your desired outcome, and plan if the answer isn't what you thought ???)

Ok, i clearly don't know how to answer that.

Where can i learn this information? Virgin oil tests or Castrol ?

Castrol, Valvoline, whoever will have PDS on their website for the product line.
You'll be looking for viscosity at both common stated temps, 40c and 100c.
Take this for example... Valvoline Conventional
Now head on over to the viscosity calculator HERE
and plug in the percentages of the two oils, and the viscosities.
Now you can compare that with the chart on the BITOG homepage, Get yur visco info heah....
You can also use this info to blend up oils from AZ, AA, and OR sales to get a workable viscosity for your application. Say, thinning out some .33 a quart 20w50 for something that can run a 10w30. (Yes some of us are still working through a stash of really cheap 20w50...)
