I have a '16 Polaris Slingshot with a GM 2.4L Ecotec motor. The Fuel(octane) Sensor has been out for nearly a month waiting for the part to come from Polaris under warranty. I think 2012 was the last year GM used this motor so I assume Polaris bought up their surplus to use in the Slingshots. I can't tell any difference in performance but have used nothing but the recommended Premium gas.

My question is, shouldn't I be able to get one from any GM dealer? Any idea of cost?

Just got an email from the dealer that the "knock sensor" is still on back order.

Look up a car that uses that engine, then see if the sensor is the same.

It's called a knock sensor not an octane sensor or fuel sensor. Because it works by directly detecting when the engine starts knocking.

The engine is the same, but are the sensors? I doubt the Polaris uses a GM ECM, but I could be wrong.

Order one from your local auto parts store and return it if it doesn't work.

Old S10s with the Cavalier 2.2 ohv used to use a fuel composition sensor, modern engines dont use one.
