Dump it? Seriously?

The only place it should be dumped into is your engine.

I'd shake it up, and use it

Mobil and others claim it has a shelf life of about 5 years. I would still use it and im sure others here have used older.
If its still API SN or whatever you need, I would use it. You can dump it out of your engine sooner than a normal OTI if you dont wanna push it and help clean your engine out.

If you pay shipping I'll dispose of it at an approved Government recycling centre.

Cable ties should hold it

Use it. It'll probably be 2022 before I use my stash of Pennzoil Ultra, half of which is circa 2012 and 2013.

I'm not sure if Formula Shell has the same propensity towards additive fallout that certain Pennzoil oils do, but given it's an old SOPUS synthetic oil, I would probably warm up the bottles with hot water before shaking them.

Of course Mobil - and all others - will say that and it's not because it will cause any issues. They know you have to BUY MORE to replace it.

Also, note the wording that they used and rest assured it was done this way on purpose: They "recommend" a shelf life. That's effectively saying "we'd like to see you throw it away after five years but we're not saying you have to".

Lets see, oil is about 200 million years old in the ground and you worry about 10 years in a nice bottle grin

Formerly in marine engineering. In an earlier life I owned my own petroleum tank truck, and hauled for the majors and independent's.
