Those cooper winter tires are quite bad at everything except deep snow.
Mushy, bad mpg, bad handling, ice traction mediocre, loud and noisy.
The Continental is an excellent all around winter tire.
I would shop by price blizzak ws-80, michelin xice xi3(might pay a small premium), Continental SI.
Maybe dunlop MAXX if cheaper.
Right now DTD/DT has a triple continental rebate. 70+100+60

If you really want a studded tire go for a cheap Winterforce or a Nokian
I'd skip the winterfarce or the coopers
Nokians are good but huge price.. so bad value.
General altimax arctics are very good value stud-able winter tire but after $$$ for studs is not a value option anymore.
I too would go GT CHAMPIRO chinese winter tires over firestone winterfarces or those coopers.
By far my favorite winter tires in the last 10 years were continental extreme winter contacts on a 2009 Elantra Touring. Had good ice traction, handling was acceptable, GREAT snow traction.
The michelin xice xi3 is a regular tire.. except amazing in winter.. no noise, no mpg dropoff, no wonky handling, great on ice/packed snow, good on deep snow.
Blizzak ws-80 is no longer class leading it needs a refresh, a stong good winter tire offering.
Contintial SI is new(winter 2016), and a better all around winter tire but worse in deep snow than their previous winter tire it replaced.
Dunlop winter MAXX is not quite at the level of the others but still a good winter tire esp. if you can pick it up cheaper than the rest
