Go to commercial marine operations that run gas and high speed diesels and HDEOs are what the operators run.
 
Very few freezing starts. Most bilges are above 32*F 99% of the time.

Loaded engines with pretty decent cooling (water/water heat exchangers, and oil coolers) running constant RPM for minutes/hours/days at a time. Very seldom overspeeds ...

Race boats are different. If they get "air" they can easily overspeed. That's why off-shore race boats have a throttle man who does that exclusively - keep the RPM in check when they air-out ...
 
Lots of diesel/electric kit - SCR DC phased out by VFD/AC - big ones run slow speed and 15 TBN marine Dino ... like MobilGard or Castrol MHP ...
