I've decided I want to fit hour meters to most of my equipment. The only piece currently running an hour meter is my Honda generator. I used a Briggs and Stratton internal battery hour meter for this. Since 2013, the unit is still running pretty good. These are like $25 each w/ sealed internal battery.
I've since bought a couple of these units:
Hardline Hour Meter
Both of these unit, the Briggs and the Hardline units use non-replaceable batteries. The Hardline units have up to a 10 year battery life. The 'up to 10 years' means i'll probably get 1/2 to 2/3 of that 10 year life realistically. I've seen other units from tiny tac and sec dec, but these are like $40-50 each. I'm not interested in a tachometer, only hour meter, i feel the tachometer is a waste of battery, plus i have a separate tachometer i use for maintenance. Ideally I could find an hour meter with a replaceable battery, but the ones that are sold on Amazon that have this feature have poor reviews - most seem to be Chinese/poor quality.
I need to buy a few more units, anyone have a good hour meter they recommend?
