I've been planting some cactus around the yard, and I want to plant more. However, any gloves from Home Depot have been nearly worthless for this. Foxtails will go through them, let alone cactus quills. The [censored] pear cactus I've been working with isn't even very stickery, but I still have to be pretty careful. I'd like to plant some cholla, but it's out of the question with any gloves I've experienced so far.

In the army we used barbed wire (or razor wire) fencing gloves to put up barbed wire fences. They were very tough, but not nimble. Heavy leather with steel "staples" in the palm areas. I felt well protected using them.

A fencing supplier or surplus store should have them.

Back in the early 1970's I worked in a lumber yard . I used White Mule gloves with the long cuffs , to handle lumber .

Might check , do not know if the company is still around .
