... and for some of us it can be less than $20.

It took me a while to line up all the rebates. They come from three sources; Walmart, Mobil & Ibotta.

I hope this helps, and feel free to comment if you have any related questions.

Very kind of you to do the homework...
Too much hassle for me.
You could also just use your favorite sub $20 a jug FS oil with three on sale microGreen filters and run that out to 30k miles.

Thanks!

Agreed also, regular M1 works fine for me doing 10k OCI's.

I'm worried about this stuff. A girl at work, of whom I have changed her oil a few times, just got a new to her 2015 Hyundai Sonata hybrid. She has been doing 7,500 mile synthetic OCI. She asked me about this oil so she only has to do it once a year instead of twice a year. I asked her if her car is under warranty. She said yes. I told her that her manual probably won't allow it. My concern is people are going to do this and if they ever need warranty work, they are done.....

Not according to many in this recent thread:

Even if the car was abused, if the customer provided evidence of an oil change or two with receipts, the claim was covered. This obsessing over oil type for warranty is amusing...and I'm guilty as well. I like to use oils that meet Chrysler MS-6395 when changing on my 2013 Dart or my son's 2015 Chrysler 200S. That being said, I haven't changed the oil on the Dart in a year (only gone 1000 miles) and likely wont change it for quite a few more years - whenever the OLM starts bugging me to.

There was decent consensus that engine warranties are denied only when obvious signs of neglect are visible, such as low oil level and/or sludging.

Also, the Sonata Hybrid is going to stop the engine very often while driving, so those 20k miles and/or 1-year oil changes are really going to be less actual engine miles than what the odometer shows. Plus, Mobil tested their M1 Ann Protection on turbo/DI engines, much tougher on oil than a Sonata Hybrid engine.

Bottom line: Tell her to use a Fram Ultra oil filter for solid construction, and she can easily go to 1-year oil changes with M1 Ann Prot.

Critical: To check the oil level once a month in that long period. 1 year is a cake walk in that engine for M1 Ann Prot.

Yeah sure, try telling that to a dealer or district service rep when you can't document the oil changes the generous but carefully administered warranty requires.
My guess is that an owner with an engine problem would be SOL.
XOM wouldn't be on the hook either, as they are careful to state that warranty oil change requirements must be followed regardless of any mileage claims made for any flavor of M1.

^ No. That wouldn't be the case.

https://mobiloil.com/en/article/warranties/limited-warranty/mobil-1-annual-protection-oil-warranty

What I like about this warranty is that Mobil One doesn't insist that you use the oil for some insanely short OCI. It's one year or 20,000 miles. I think this is the only one of its kind in this business other than maybe Amsoil.

Since engine failures are basically never caused by failure of the oil these warranties are really useless, just marketing ploys and try to find anyone that has actually had a claim satisfied, well, non existent. Now, the vehicle warranty, I agree, if the manual says one year or 7,500 miles and you go a year and after 3 years the ole engine goes i will bet the dealer will not belly up to the bar, you did not follow the warranty, I don't care what Mobil says and of course Mobil will say the failure was not caused by the oil. It probably was not but the vehicle warranty is also void as the maintenance not followed. Not worth the battle!!

Mobil sort of cover it with their statement!
Be advised that if your vehicle is covered by a warranty, you should follow the vehicle’s oil life sensor or the oil change interval recommended in your owner’s manual to avoid a disruption in your vehicle warranty. Follow your owner’s manual if the vehicle is operated in any of the following severe services: racing or commercial applications including taxis, limousines, etc.; frequent towing or hauling; extremely dusty or dirty conditions; or under excessive idling conditions.

^^ IOW, that would be the case.
This seems entirely fair in that a maker may offer a very long warranty and only require that you maintain the car as the OM requires to preserve that warranty.
Given that there have been a number of recent examples of thrown rods in certain value brand four cylinder engines, I'd hate to be looking back and forth between the vehicle OEM and XOM for warranty coverage on a vehicle for which I had ignored the OM drain intervals.
Both the OEM and XOM have covered themselves for this in the fine print and neither is going to step up to the plate and comp the hapless owner a new engine.

The local AAP has cut the price of 5 quart jugs $10 and quart bottles $5. It's still not selling.
