All depends on budget. The HF unit is a real bargain and works well. If you want to spend more, there are other options.

As a proud owner of a high-dollar Flex machine, I recommend a Harbor Freight machine for about $60.

They aren't precision machinery. Unless you are a professional detailer, you don't need that kind of durability.

(they didn't have them when I bought my Flex).

The handles are really useful for using it at different angles and reducing fatigue. It comes in a useful container that holds it and all the accessories.

This is NOT a polisher. This is a wax spreader. It is really only useful for applying wax.

We have had excellent luck with the Harbor Freight stuff in general. A couple of things have broken and were replaced when we brought them back. Overall their stuff holds up surprisingly well.

Buy the polisher, take it home and try it out. If you don't like it bring it back!

It will be for personal use for detailing the family SUVs.

Reviews dont look too promising on that unit. I have yhe HF 5.7 amp DA polisher. The unit you linked is more of a rotary. I can recommend the Astro pneumatic dual torque polisher, results i have seen easily outdo the HF unit and its even less in price.

This was recommended to me by the member here Trav, and as Ive said, a great unit to start with.

My recommendation. Buy it and the 5" and 3" backing plates and you will be able to do any surface on any car indefinitely. It's a workhorse and carries a lifetime warranty from a respected and easy-to-deal-with company.

I agree 1000%!! Get the one with the 25' cord. It will exceed your budget but will be worth every cent.

Another vote for the Griots. I've got a second gen I bought back in 2011, been a great machine even with 6.5" pads. Literally can't bog it down.

Unless you really know what you doing get a dual action one.

Absolutely NO rotary buffer for you, given that you are asking questions here!! If you can swing Groit, then there is nothing else to consider. I have one.
