We have a 2 005 Subaru Legacy GT(turbo) wagon with 5 speed manual that has 222,000 miles.

I have a video of a noise(disregard 3 year old whining) taken with smartphone in cargo area. Before I take in is this an odd tire noise (normally silent) or something mechanical?

If you swerve back and forth , does the sound change/diminish/get worse? If so I'd suspect the rear wheel bearings.

Get the car rolling then let off the gas and put the transmission in neutral. Does the noise change / go away?

Lift the wheel off the ground and turn it by hand. Any noise at all is a problem. Also grab the tire and see if there is any looseness in the bearings, which would allow the wheel to wobble.

To rule out tire noise, rotate the tires front to back and see if the noise moves.

The sound is present whether clutch in or out and in time with speed of vehicle.

Swaying back and forth does not seem change level of sound but will try again.
