Did I read that Shell changed the formula for the Rotella T 10W30 oil?
Something about no longer having an API rating. I have been using this oil in my
Mercury 40 horse 4 stroke for the last 3 summers, absolutely no complaints about the oil.
Regards, old jim

You can thank the Lawyers,
who will hold the oil companies liable for "killing" catalytic converters.

Some diesel oil are keeping the "C" (compression) like CJ & CK,
but dropping the "S" ratings (Spark) like SM and SN,
because they want to be able to keep using the oil n diesel engines,
even though they can't "LEGALLY" market the oil for gasoline engine use.

Going on 3 years running Rotella 15/40 in my 50 HP Mercury 4 stroke. We run this thing hours at a time.

Running Rotella 10/30 in my '16 Ford F150 5.0.

back in the early 2000's I liked rotella triple protect 10w30 (not the T5 semisyn). Use to run it in the EJ Subaru with a qt of formula shell 5w30. Happy engine. Ran it in the Mower too - though the mower doesn't care.

Despite the re-classification/ declassification of diesel oils,
I'm of the opinion that using them in gasoline engines won't do any harm.
I'm still going to use Rotella in OPE and motorcycles.

My 2¢

I would continue using it. As mentioned, it is more legal bull versus a lack of quality. Shell makes some superb oils that will work fantastic for your engine

THIS. The formulations have changed slightly, but not much. Run it with confidence in a gas engine. Or try Delo 10W30. I believe it is still dual rated.

Yeah - just bought some for $8/quart - still have over a year on warranty before I can venture off from nmma oils ...
