At Dollar General, both conventional and high mileage at $3 a quart. Not the greatest bargain, I know...

That is a great deal, I have not been in a Dollar general for at least a couple of years but have used Peak antifreeze before with no issues. Was not aware that Peak had oil.Anyway a quick look at the Peak website reveals that: "PEAK® 5W-20 Conventional Motor Oil meets API SN, meets GF-5 requirements, and redefines “performance” in:

Fuel economy
Engine wear control at extreme temperatures
Emission systems protection
Oxidation control
Piston cleanliness and engine sludge control"

No reason not to use it at that price. when I use up my 2 cases of Travelers in about 3 years I may give Peak a try. If it is $3. price all the time that is excellent.

Sure there are. You can get full synthetic for that same price or less through the year. I haven't paid over $2/qt in a few years and my stock is 3/4 full synthetic. It includes edge, Mobil super syn, Mobil - AFE, magnatec, citgo and mile synblend. None cost over $3/qt and I don't mess with rebates.

I believe that both Traveler and Peak are blended by Warren Distribution.

$3 a quart is a decent deal.

A PepBoys store had Peak Syn for 99 cents a quart on clearance. I bought about 40 quarts in various weights.

I think here in Lincoln where I live $2.00 a quart oil would be more rare than a unicorn. Maybe there are good sales at Auto Zone, O Reilly or NAPA with oil, but I do not think they ever get down to the $2.00 per quart price point. Been a couple of months since I have been to a part store, but i think regular oil not on sale is about $4.00 to $5.00 per quart and synthetics are mostly $6.00 to $9.00 per quart on average. Maybe they do have $2.00 a quart sales from time to time though and I have not been aware of them as i do not go there very much. I usually just buy a couple of cases at TSC or Napa about once per year. which is about right given the miles we put on our 3 vehicles.

Super Tech is Citgo where I'm at.
I hesitate to say it is the same- perhaps similar or the same as Warren-supplied Super Tech.

FWIW Dollar General's store brand SN oil (the obsolete stuff is all gone now) is also Warren, and the regular price for that oil is slightly less than this.

It sounds like you're not doing bad but you can join us over on the Deals section if you want. $2 Clearance prices are pretty typical at Autozone (and rebates can make these free a lot of the time.)
Right now Tractor Supply Co has clearanced 2 gallon jugs of various Traveler oil down to $15 per jug, and the 15w-40 gallons are $7.50.

About twice a year, Dollar General has their Peak oil on BOGO. (Buy one, get one free) With that sale in effect, the price is easily under $2/quart and that includes their Merc/Dex tranny oil. Orschelns (a midwest farm store) also has their TropArtic oil and their TropArtic replacement oil Shield Choice (I think) on sale for under $2/quart every few months. Last I checked the Walmart on 27th street (next to Sam's) still carries TropArtic oil. You could have Wally World do a price match on it when it goes on sale at Orschelns.
I live about an hour south of you and I'm in Lincoln more often than I care to be.

If you are near a Rural King, their house oil (Harvest King, blended by Citgo) is now $9.99 for a 5 qt. jug.
This is an everyday price for a full synthetic.

The better deal on Peak oil that they run occasionally at Dollar General is BOGO. Comes out to $1.85 a quart.

I just paid a little less than that for a jug of Idemitsu 0w20 synthetic at Advance Auto. Normally $30/jug there. Picked up four of them.
