Birkenstock CEO slams Amazon's new buying program

Birkenstock is probably looking out for their resellers - they do a lot of business with smaller shoe shops and Nordstrom.

Nike's sales base is receding - with the shutdown of Sports Authority and the mall in decline(Nike is very dependent on Foot Locker who also operates under Champs/Eastbay/Footaction and they have traditionally been mall-based) it just made sense for them to sell on Amazon.

Amazing contracts are beyond one sided and onerous.

I had a small client get acquired by them and what was a great relationship now has a giant lopsided contract between us.

I don't understand why this CEO would not want Amazon to sell their Birkenstock shoes. Amazon will be selling Nike shoes so what's the problem if Amazon wants to get shoes not directly from a manufacturer.

Because amazon is just as bad and getting worse than eBay for fakes. Look at the forman strap company for example. They use to employee a lot of Americans but have had to do massive layoffs due to all the fakes. They have bought hundreds of "straps" from amazon and most have been fake.
Read this and you can see why many do not want Amazon to sell their wares anymore...

My account at amazon got blocked for reporting fakes and leaving reviews when Amazon themselves sold me a fake item.
