In another thread someone mentioned that the Motorcraft filter for my Powerstroke engine was synthetic media. I cannot find that mentioned when I look up the filter INFO on RockAuto. The ADBV is silicone, but the filter is mounted threads up, so an ADBV does not really come into play.

Does anyone know where the media type is listed as synthetic?

I don't think the MC is synthetic.
Purolator made.

The thread posted is for a FL-1995. The OP's truck doesn't use that filter. Quick check on Rockauto the description doesn't include synthetic media, although the Wix XP does. I would err on the side that it doesn't.

The FL-2051s filter that fits your Powdrstroke does NOT have synthetic media. Check Baldwin.

I have been less than impressed with the last dozen or so MC filters I have seen cut open after an OCI. There are better, less expensive options available.

No, the Motorcraft is not synthetic, nor is it synthetic-blend.

You can get a Champion filter with synthetic-blend media for a little bit cheaper than you can the Motorcraft on Amazon:

https://www.amazon.com/Motorcraft-FL2051S-Oil-Filter/dp/B00BJ4BLMC

https://www.amazon.com/Champion-COS10890-Engine-Filter-Replacement/dp/B00XQ0S7YC/

Of course, the Motorcraft on Amazon is $2.91 cheaper than at AutoZone or O'Reilly (both $19.99 as compared to $17.08 on Amazon). But I think $16.33 for the synthetic-blend Champion filter would be the best deal. Keep in mind your cart has to be over $25.00 to get free shipping, but you can most likely buy your oil on Amazon cheaper than in stores, too, or just buy 2 filters (or if you need anything else that could bring you to at least $25.00).

This should be your best deal for filters for your PowerStroke.

But through that site you only get free shipping on orders over $250.00, whereas it's free shipping for orders over $25.00 on Amazon. Because of this, I think the Champion filter on Amazon is the best deal.
