I have a Nissan/Tohatsu 120 on my 19.5 Alumacraft which I have owned for 12 years. I have noticed the engine is smoking over the last two years than before. I assumed its due to wear but I really haven't used the boat much in the last 2 years. Maybe 40 hours over the last two year. It runs decent just smokes more now.

The original owner used Cabela Signature semi-synthetic TC-W3 and I have continued using it.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

It is probably running rich a low speeds due to a partially plugged air bleed in the carburetor(s0, or possibly a float that is damaged by ethanol and heavy. If injected a leaky or dirty injector putting out big drops of fuel.

Also a pinhole in the fuel pump diaphragm can do this, those normally get worse pretty fast and the motor stops.

Gents,

thanks for the input much appreciated. I'll check the suggestions you guys have put forth. I do have some Kano Labs Kreen on hand and have thought about adding some to the fuel to decarb the engine.
