We are considering getting rid of our Fusion in favor of a newer Ford Flex (NA, non-turbo). I am curious if anyone has put 16" wheels on a Flex. We have a set of 16" wheels for winter tires on the Fusion, and I've confirmed that both vehicles use the same 5x4.5 bolt pattern, similar offset, and the Flex's hubs are smaller, so all I'd need are some different hub-centric rings. I'd obviously need larger tires, but I'm more concerned about the rims clearing the brake calipers. The Flex, and its platform cousin, the Taurus, have 17" as the standard and smallest wheel size. Google doesn't turn up anything about 16" fitting either the Taurus or the Flex. Both also use the same calipers, so info on either vehicle would be helpful.

I'd run the tire rack fit up and see if 16 is an option. You need to measure the backspacing on the current wheels and the winter wheels.

EDIT. I just ran it , and nothing smaller than 18 showed up.
