Several years ago i outfitted three vehicles (an 84 Rabbit, an 86 325es, then a 97 Escort) with Motomaster LXR tires. They were also an all season tire with excellent lifespan and very quiet.

These tires are their successor and are every bit (probably better) than the LXR's were. Quiet, absorb potholes with ease and are a fantastic value compared to more expensive branded tires. Honestly I have a hard time finding anything wrong with them!...ok, maybe they dont' have as sporty of a tread pattern as the others. But considering I got all three new tires for free with gift cards when they went on sale, I have nothing to complain about!

Are Motomaster's available in the States, perhaps under another name?

I think they are available as a Cooper tire. Not sure which model it correlates to as the tread patterns are different. The CS5 Grand Touring has the same mileage warranty and identical UTQG rating so it seems similar in those regards.

The most mileage I got from a set of LXR's was about 100kms. So just a little short of the 130kms rating.
No sidewall failures (bubbles or weird treadwear either).

Not bad when consider the harsh winters we get in Canada.

EDIT: sorry, I dont' know why I said I got three. I received a set of four

Which "others" are you talking about? Just curious...

I had some Motomaster SE tires that dry rotted out after about 5 years. These were mostly summer driven as they were stored in a dry garage during the winter changeover. I treat all my tires the same in terms of usage, seasonal swapping, storage, and have never seen this happen. I did recently pick up the SE3s because the price was too good, so we'll see how they hold up long term.

Just a quick update, recently did a road trip where there was several sections where there was no traffic. The speed limit was about 50mph/80kph and with the windows down, the only sound I could hear was the faint click, click, click, of the plastic hub caps bouncing around the center hub area. I'm ok with this smile

Conti DWS06's etc.

As for the Motomaster SE's, thsoe are a completely different tire. I can understand why they didn't perform well, despite being maintained.

Here in America, they are sold as the Mastercraft LSR Grand Touring. http://mastercrafttires.com/Tires/Passenger/LSR-Grand-Touring.aspx
