Before I start, i would prefer user experience with the replies, meaning you have used products that I will be mentioning down below. I know this is an oil forum, and that there are analysis somewhere around here. If you have analysis of the said oils used and new, I would like a link please. I have looked and cannot find. Ok let's begin.

Hello guys,

As the title states, im looking towards the near further in changing my oil. I always use full synthetic. However, this is my first oil change for the car i own now. The oils i were thinking about are

Mobil 1 Extended Performance

Genuine Honda Fluid, Ultimate Synthetic

but i have also come across this one as well, however its a synthetic blend...
Honda Fluid Synthetic Blend

Im also choosing between a mobil 1 extended perf filter, which i have used in the past and is amazing. But i was also thinking about a honda oil filter as well

my car currently has 152k miles on it, just drove to to ocean city and back, clocked over 500 miles and no oil loss. Got 40 mpg. 2001 honda civic ex

I would prefer user experience with these responses. Thank you

Any reason not to put m1 0w20 ep in the choices.
It is supposed to be really good with good dose of pao.

im just going by what the oil cap/manual suggests. I was just looking into using new oil. Price isnt the issue when choosing between the two. I just like trying different oils, wanted to know if anyone had experience with the honda filter and oil

Thanks for your response!

Subaru and Nissan share the "Honda spec" filter. I use the M1 EP filter after many trials and its good (with the qualifier if its a Champion Labs build). Honda is essentially a Fram Tough Guard. These too are good filters. I like the Honda PCX -004 for sporty use.

After trying many oils in the Subaru and the Nissan, Magnatec 5w20 is stupendous. QSUD is a good choice, M1 EP 0w20 was tried with no plus to its higher cost and added more engine noise. Just to note the XoM SDS had shown the 0w20 M1 EP to be majority REAL synthetic - a rarity at the 26 dollar a jug price point. I cannot verify this supposition. Pennzoil Platinum was drank like a frat boi at a summer fling, though this usage was in a car known to be a drunkard.

Know that "Full Synthetic" is an advertising term and not a guarantee you are even buying semi-synthetic oil.

Product made from Group-III refined petroleum oil may be advertised as Synthetic in the U.S.

Some of the Honda filters are made by Fram which is just cheap stuff rated for only 5000 miles. The M1 XP filter would most likely be a much better choice. I know your looking data sheets but the genuine Honda oil is probably just rebranded oil (It could be Mobil the makes it, who knows) but the M1 extended life is also an excellent choice.

during my internet research, ive come to find out the honda oil filters come in AO1 and AO2 versions. AO1 being the filters made by filitech while A02 is the cheaper version, less quality product. I may try the honda filter A01 and see how that goes.

Could anyone link me to virgin oil analysis of the fully syn oils mentioned above? the honda ultimate and mobil 1 extended performance. Thanks.

Lots of AO1 fakes and bait and switch tactics out there. Use caution.

As for the oil, any major brand of oil that meets the specs for your Honda will work just fine.

As cautious as I can be, i found a seller online that many reviewers on amazon recommend, as there has been issues reciveing A02 instead of A01 filters.

Good reviews from the seller, near future i will more then likely purchase.

Regarding filters.....IMO, the best top-tier filter is the FRAM ULTRA. It can easily be found at WalMart (in store and online), as well as Amazon......and is reasonably priced.

The oils you chose are both good. I've used the Mobil M1 product, but found my engine was a bit noisy using it. Have you considered PENNZOIL PLATINUM oils. they made my engine sound quieter and are excellent long OCI oils.
