76 Chevy El Camino....350 2bl 265k on havoline 30wt ever 3k miles ad havoline filters....texaco gas 80 percent of the time also

Supposedly my boss always ran straight 30 in his '00 K2500 (6.0) until very recently - 260K and it runs just fine. Also runs fine on the Maxlife 10w30 I put in it, too. :p

I may never do another personal oil change again, so however many miles are on the Roadmaster when/if ever it decides to give up. Starting to believe oil changes are a bit of a sham. 👍

Me neither- the fluids God gave me are staying in

Not the original timing chain, though - correct?

It is RARE to see a nylon cam sprocket go over 100,000...... let alone 250,000+

oh no....yeah i had to do some work on her....I LOVED my El Camino....its one of those cars either you like em or hate em.
It seems that she ate water pumps ....I think I put FOUR pumps on or maybe 5 cant remember.....maybe the AZ heat?

There are soooo many of you who don't understand that a lot of modern monogrades can pass cold flow test for 15W. You live in Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, Arizona but you say you need 0W or 5W something.

I'm with userfriendly on this one...

Pretty much any GM V8 built from sometime around 1973-74(?) and later (up into the 80's) had the dreaded nylon camshaft gear. Lord, have I changed a few of those in my life!!!

I had a '76 Monte Carlo 350 2bbl that I got rid of at 165,000 miles in 1993. Only thing I ever changed was a water pump and valve cover gaskets. No timing chain issues. As for oil, it had 30 put in it more than a few times and it also got whatever I could find in Dad's garage or whatever was cheapest at the local small town parts house.
