Do any of our fine members have HD 30wt engine oil they would like to part with? I might be interested. I wish not to pay more than $1.50/qt for it, so keep that in mind.

Thank you.

No Menards, farm store or walmart near by? I wish you luck in finding someone nearby to make $1.50/qt feasible.

You might try some of the boat shops around and any Tug or Push Boat service areas. They all used to stock SAE 30 for all the old Chris Crafts, Carvers, Owens, etc. They may be having a clearance laugh

Also, I'd be doing a daily search on Craigslist. Some old farmer passes away and they find 2 cases of SAE 30 HD in the shop. Prolly sell it cheap because they don't know what it is ... smile

It's around, but unless it's old stock being cleared out, it won't be a $1.50 ...

5 qts of Havoline in round tin cans asking $50 here on Craigslist ...

So far Craigslist offers no straight 30wt in a one hundred fifty mile radius. I just figure there is a bitog'r who has some old SL/SM 30wt in the garage for top off, and perhaps they would like to get rid of it cheap.

It never hurts to ask. My grandmother gave me two gallons of CD/SJ Kendall Super D-3 a few weeks ago. It had probably been there for two decades, unopened.

SuperTech 30 comes in gallons and quarts here... but when Atwoods or TSC has a sale it's cheaper there instead.

Get ya a 1 gallon or 5qt jug of something full synthetic for ~$20-$22 and mix 1 qt of it with your SJ oil each oil change smile

Take a look over in the "Thinking Too Much" thread. I think Broc and I are hatching an evil plan.

I do not have an Atwoods, Blain's, or Ochelins store anywhere near me, but I do have a TSC. Seems they never have 30wt on sale. Supertech is $2.74/qt right now I think. I get Warren 30wt for resale at $2.63/qt, and I can get modern Kendall GT-1 30wt for $2.74/qt, again for resale. Penngrade 1 cost me about $5.00/qt, and I can get Schaeffer's Micron Moly 30wt racing oil even less than that. I have options, but I'd rather make good use of the older stuff before just dipping in to resale stock. Which is why I'm looking for older spec 30wt here, because I'll actually use it. crzy crzy crzy

That's hard to find... I ran that in my V8 boat - 4,600 RPM all day long!

Thanks guys. It's been on CL for a little while with no bites but that's in the auto parts section. So I'll move it over to the motorcycle parts area to see if I can get any takers.

??? ??? ???

You want to use up the world's remaining old stock of 30-weight before buying new?

Did I hear that correctly?

I thought you were mixing it with 0W-20 as a summer blend in your car.

The car takes 4 qts. I was thinking about using 1 qt of 0w20 and 3 qts. of the 20w50 but thought that maybe too risky. Oil is pretty cheap. $10 jugs of Havoline full syn at Oreillys right now. $10 jugs of FS at Home Depot.

The 10w30 Edge EP that I put in yesterday was free after being put on clearance at WM and a $10 off Castrol coupon. Well I did have to pay sales tax of .56.
