At 3500 or so miles I felt it was time for a full synthetic oil. I went with the 20w50 quick silver. I figure it should last closer to the oci that yamaha specs than 10w40 valvoline dino oil or rotella 15w40.
There should be no negative effects using this oil right?

I have been using it in my Triumph Thunderbird without complaint. Shifts nice, no weird noises. I don't put alot of miles on but it's been in there a year and half and it still looks good.

Is there any reason you prefer the 10w40? Does it seem to shift smoother or anything?
I'm about to go for the first short ride with the 20w50 I'll see how it feels.

I ride in weather down to 45F and i like the better cold flow. It just seems rev happy on the 10w40

Well first ride down. Shifts much better than rotella 15 40 and feels better than the valvine 10w40 regular oil
