A quick question, does anyone else face leakage with these batteries? Every year I get them during Thankgiving at The Home Depot and within 6-8 months, I find many of the left in the pack start leaking. I just threw away abt a dozen of these last week. I plan to go 100% rechargeable with Amazon Rechargeable or Eneloops.

I didnt have a leaky battery for 15 years.. but last week discovered leaking energizers killed my "atomic clock" weather station... And the batteries had a good by date of 2026 and were installed 4months prior.

Ray-o-vac are the WORST for doing this! That's why I typically avoid them.

Most battery companies guarantee their batteries will not damage your equipment. I know energizer will send you a cheque to replace a damaged radio etc. You will need to take pictures. Call them, email them.

I've got a drawer full of Rayovacs, Energizers, and Duracells, and have never seen one leak. OTOH, I HATE rechargeable. I've tried several different brands, and they all suck. Constant battles with not charging, appearing to charge but don't, and super quick draining while in devices if they did happen to charge.

Rechargables are great for many uses but I'm not a fan of them being only 1.2 volts vs. 1.5 volts for 'real' alkalines.

I've been buying 50 packs of AAs and AAAs from Wegmans and Harris Teeter for anything I don't want to use rechargables in. Only problem is if you go through the whole package with a volt meter you're going to find some duds, so you kinda need to unfortunately. But better to know ahead of time and weed them out first.

Costco (Kirkland) AAA's from 2-years ago leaked on me. I recycled the remaining. Didn't want to risk ruining any devices.

You could have returned them to Costco. I bet the date listed on the batteries was well into the future. Costco is very good about returning items.

Alkalines don't stay at 1.5V very long though. They quickly drop below that voltage, especially in high drain applications.

Ive noticed way more leakage from Energizer, Duracell, and Rayovac in the last 2 years than ever before. And yes, the Eneloops, or Amazon rechargeable (relabeled Eneloopps) are most excellent.

Never had one to leak, but I don't leave them in stuff for five years either.

Made in the USA, and that's all I will buy. Bought these the last time they were on sale November of last year, and still have over half a box left, and none are leaking.

People that hate rechargeables have never 1)used a quality charger and 2) used a Eneloop battery.

The new Eneloops batteries are nothing like the old rechargeables. The technology is amazing. They dont leak. They hold a charge for several years without needing recharging. You charge them with a quality charger, that turns off once done, then you remove them from the charger, and store them. You dont keep them on the charger. A surefire way to kill a battery is to leave it on a constant charger that doesn't turn off.

I can highly recommend the Eneloop rechargeable batteries. If you try them, you will love them, guaranteed. The Eneloop branded smart charger is also intelligently designed and is good quality.

I have probably 30 of them in my house and I cant find one bad thing to say about them. They just work. And they have never leaked. And when they die, I throw them on the charger for a few hours. Good as new again.
