So I was passively doing some more digging on this fluid for my AS69RC trans. Again the usual suspects to use are Mobil 3309. I was communicating with Aisin on the matter but they have not been very forthcoming with my questions. Apparently besides the 3309, my trans can also use their Aisin ATF-OT4. Other than it is made by various suppliers and blenders, that was all the information I have received. Now my next step is to see what other transmissions can use this fluid in another attempt to cross check compatibility.

I'm also curious about the ATF-0T4 fluid, as that's what my parts store said the cross-reference was for the transmission. BUT, I haven't been able to find that Spec on ANYTHING.

Has anyone nailed down a fluid SPEC that is equivalent to ASRC fluid or Mobil 3309?
I have a 2015 Ram 3500 with Aisin Trans.
My AS69RC Transmission dipstick handle says use "AS68RC" fluid. Then the dipstick says use only Mopar ASRC fluid.

I contacted Mobil, as it appears the Mobil 3309 is discontinued.. I asked if it's still available.
Their reply was that they do not have an ATF for my AS69RC transmission...

I see a few fluids around now that are rated JWS-3309 and Toyota T-IV, and several others. From what I've read, this is what's typically used in import brands with Aisin transmissions. I'm quite sure that the JWS-3309 (aisin-warner) fluid would be the same, but that's just me reading lots of jugs of ATF oil, spec sheets, and internet reading. (No actual testing or previous knowledge of oils)

From what I've read, the Mobil 3309 is generally accepted for this transmission, and is/was a high viscosity fluid. I've compared the spec sheets of other fluids, and have found a few that are very similar. For viscosity at 40 and 100deg, and viscosity index.

Mobil 3309 is rated:
cst @100 celcius = 7.1
cst @40 celcius =33
@-40 celcius=13,000
viscosity index =181
Density 0.8520

Now, I'm no oil expert, but how much difference in these #'s really matters?? Would an oil that meets JWS3309 and T-IV, with ratings of the following be very close?:
40c=33-36
100c=6.9-7.4
-40c=11,000-18,000
VI=165-180

AND, is there more these oils that I'm missing? Maybe certain additives that the AS69RC transmission needs?

I even see some oils now that have the AS68RC rating on their website, as an "equivalent". (ie. Amsoil who claims their oil works everywhere, Petrocan Duradrive MV, Castrol transmax multivehicle, Total MV, liquimoly 1200).

I guess, bottom line.... If I find a fluid that "recommends" the fluid for AS68RC, should I feel confident in that?

Real nice to see that 3309 is no longer available.

I came to the conclusion that ASRC is 3309 is T4 is JWS 3309 which according to Toyota, T4 has been replaced by low viscosity WS which is JWS 3324 and is backward compatible.

I think we are overthinking this transmission and its mystical requirements. I will be pricing out duradrive and looking for other cheaper alternatives to 17$ a liter at the dealer.

Castrol Transynd has proven itself in "Constant Slip" converter clutches & "Clutch to Clutch" transmissions. I have ran it in Aisin AS69RC units with great success.

Good to know that I could add some other equivalents to my list.

I purchased the Petro-can Duradrive MV Synthetic for my AS69RC transmission. I paid $7/litre, where dodge wanted $13 for the ASRC.
I also bought Amsoil ATF "signature series" ATF for my BW transfer case. I paid $17/litre, vs $33 at Dodge for the BW44-.. fluid!

From all the reading I've done, I believe these are equivalents of the "Mopar" fluids for the Transmission and Transfer Case.

I don't mind paying $ for good oil, but I do mind paying for something that I can't find any specifications for (MOPAR!)

I spoke with a local bulk dealer for Mobil. 3309 was 6.56$ a liter, before tax. Came in 5 liter jugs and minimum 4 jugs per box.
