My dad's Accord Sport is at my house while my parents are on vacation. He has complained about the softness of the Honda paint and I told him it is soft but it's also easier to correct because of that. Other than basic wash & wax I hadn't done a full detail in a year so I wanted to give it a go. I was a bit rusty and missed a couple things so it's not my best work but it turned out pretty well overall.

Wash:
Sonax Full Effect
Speed Master Wheel Brush
Meg's D111
Gilmour Foam Gun
2 bucket method, etc.

Polish/Wax:
Pinnacle Poly Clay
PC 7424XP
HD Speed (AIO)
Collinite 845
Uber Microfiber

Give me a price and an address and I'll be right over with mine. wink

My hat is off to anyone with the patience and anal-retentiveness to do this level of work. I do not have it. Kudos.

Excellent outcome! Thanks for sharing.

BTW, I also like that Collinite 845 Liquid Insulator Wax.

Thanks, guys.

The 845 is a staple but my star of the show is the HD Speed. It corrects with ease, leaves a great shine, and you can work it in direct sun which is a huge bonus. BTW I only used the AIO on the flats (hood, front fender tops, roof, trunk, rear fender tops).

Another thing I did differently is used the wash mitt and remainder of wash water as lube for the clay instead of a detail spray. It worked really well, good lubricity and it was plentiful (and cheap).

What type of pad did you use to polish? Very impressed with HD Speed. What did you use for the engine bay, trunk jam and gas cap area?

I used a Lake Country blue finishing pad. Other than some areas of bad scratches on the roof from removing sap or bird poo (which you can kind of see a spot of in the before picture) the paint was in decent shape so I figured I could rely on the product, not the pad. That's also why I only did the 'flats' with the HD Speed.

I did give the engine bay a very light mist of P21S Total Auto Wash (fantastic stuff) but it probably didn't need it. Other than that it was just a bucket of wash water with the D111 for the jambs. For scrubbing those areas I use the same mitt I use for wheels and the Speed Master wheel brush is right at home cleaning between things in an engine bay.

Very good to know. So you didn't do the sides since the paint was in good condition? Good to know about how you cleaned all the jams of the car. Those can get really bad.

Correct. Only the flats got HD Speed, the entire car got 845.

Even for the worst jambs I've dealt with the only thing I would do differently is use the P21S Total Auto Wash on more areas and spray the jambs directly with the hose (you'd be surprised how little water gets in the car).

I've read good things about P21S TAW. Where do you get all these products from, Autogeek? They have HD Speed for only $15/bottle. Excellent price imo.

I buy from a combination of Detailer's Domain and Autogeek. For gallons of D111, D156 and stuff like that, Autogeek is definitely best. For new products and/or higher-quality specialty products Detailer's Domain is on top of it.

For folks thinking of those places, sign up for their email lists and buy when there's a promotion/coupon code. Both should have July 4th promos coming up.

Great job! I'm sure your dad will be pleased. Kind, unselfish act on your part. I would gladly detail my parent's car if they were still here.

Thank you. It rained yesterday and there's still some pollen around so I was thinking I'd give it a quick rinse and dry with Meguiar's D156 before they pick up the car on Thursday night.
