I was looking to see if anyone had updated pictures of this particular filter for my Powerstroke 6.7. I've been using them on my F350 for 82k but have never cut one open. I plan to the next time around.

Anyone have another filter they would suggest? Unfortunately they don't make a Fram Ultra or I would run it.

Amsoil makes a filter for it, what's the general consensus on them lately?

The engine will never know the difference between the Amsoil and M/C filter over its life.

Reason I ask is because of all the Purolator Tearolator stuff going on. I'm under the impression they manufacture for MC?

I looked into the Amsoil filter you mentioned, and the the one specified for "Ford F-Series Super Duty PU w/ 6.7L diesel Spin-on" was the EAO98 - but according to the spec sheet below, it doesn't have a by-pass nor an anti-drain back valve in which your vehicle *needs* for sure.

I hope this helps!

Thanks for the listings, I may buy a few and give them a shot, and do some cutting and posting for the rest of you. The filter is mounted vertically and has no need for a ADBV. As far as the bypass goes, I'm not sure what to think.

You're welcome! And okay, if it's mounted vertically, then yah an ADBV isn't necessary, but a bypass valve is *always* necessary, unless the engine block has a built in bypass, which I've only ever seen on GM vehicles.

Looks almost like it would be the same as the Cummins/Dodge filter

Don't see a lot of diesel filters cut open, sucks because I'd like to study some filters for my 7.3 Powerstroke. I have used MC filters faithfully on it, but it's getting an orange can of delight next change because I can't be too sure about the MC filters. Seen pics of a new OCOD cut open for this particular engine and liked what I saw, it was a non traditional orange can as it had metal end caps which I found curious. Maybe because it's for a heavy duty application so they went with metal? You might look into an orange can for your truck. Being that the 6.7 is the new kid on the block I'm sure it's easier to find more people cutting 6.7 oil filters open.

Kinda shocking there's no Fram Ultra for it out yet. Wth, Fram? Truck's been out 7 years already!

I bought the three pack as well! Thanks for all the suggestions. It'll be a while before they all get cut but I will have several examples coming. The Donaldson seems to have the best openly stated stats at 99% @ 15 micron. Since I basically got one for free buying the 3 pack (comparatively) maybe I'll bust one of those open virgin.

Be on the lookout for a new thread in 60ish days and the first one will be my current FL2051S
