If it's above the "low" mark when hot, you can be sure it will still be OK cold. There's no need to try to fill exactly to the full mark. The important thing is to stay in the OK range.
Mine is always a tad bit higher after sitting for at least 4 hrs on a level surface. I don't know if it was Edmonds magazine or another article but they said to wait at least 4 hrs for an accurate reading since the motor is totally cold!
