Just stumbled on this group of "Old School" drag racers. I wish they had something in the Northeast like this. It sure is more exciting than any "professional series I have seen lately. Racing start about 10min in

My Dad raced an Anglia gasser back in the 60s.
I was in high school and we had a lot of fun going all over Texas on weekends.

I used to run a D Gas (12.5# / cu in) 64 Valiant back in the day (1968). Tuned slant 6 225 (RG Iron block), milled hyper-pak pistons, and a slightly milder cam with a TQ-Flite and a 170 converter, Hyper-Pak 2-3 cast iron headers. 3.91, 8.75" Mopar Posi rear narrowed to Valiant spring width. Ran 13's in the high 90's and drove it on the street laugh

Gasser's and Jalopy's were the epitome of back yard engineering smile

Formerly in marine engineering. In an earlier life I owned my own petroleum tank truck, and hauled for the majors and independent's.
