40:1 or 50:1 fuel mix

I have some engines that call for 40:1 and some that call for 50:1. I use 40:1 with non-oxygenated gas in everything. I figure I'd rather be a little over spec on oil content than under.

I'd run 40:1 during the warranty period to satisfy the warranty.
After that, I would run a good quality 50:1. I use either Echo or Stihl in all my 2 stroke OPE, including a Lawn Boy and a Craftsman blower, at the recommendation of the dealer where I purchased my Lawn Boy. IMO, all my 2 stroke OPE runs better on the 50:1.

That would depend on the oil, and if your changing jetting, 40:1 runs leaner then 50:1, so depending on elevation and air temp, however a good synthetic oil can go to 100:1 safely,
i run all my 2strokes on amsoil dominator, at 50:1. i've not blown one up yet, chain saws, leaf blowers, tillers, dirtbikes, they all get 50:1,

25:1 is the ratio I use these days, I don't use equipment that has a cat converter (either I have pre-nerfed equipment or I get the cats ripped out/muffler modded, modify carb).
