Buying a used Honda EB5000X gen

Couple of tips:

(1) If you're only going to use this for a power outage, be sure to fully drain all the fuel from the tank and carb. Have fresh fuel (preferably regular unleaded with no ethanol.) in loose tanks (NOT inside the generator's tank) When the stored fuel > 6 months old, dump it into a vehicle and refill the tank. You could operate like this for many years, with no worries about the gen set sitting so long without being run. Won't really hut anything, and is a far better situation than needed it to run after a storm but the fuel you left in there has gunked up the carburetor.

(2) All EB-series models are neutral-bonded. If used with certain-style transfer switches, you will probably trip the GFCI on the generator. There is an easy fix; just removed the neutral bonding wire (white jumper) from underneath the service panel on the end of the genset.

(3) Drop me a PM with the full serial number (EXXX-1234567) and I may be able to pull some history on this exact unit.
