Pennzoil deal is on synthetic only

Same deal as last year at $2/qt for synthetics with up to $48 total rebate for the year.

Quaker State promotion

Says up to $7 per rebate on QS products. Isn't exactly clear but it's likely it's the same deal as 2016 with $7 off QSUD, $5 off Defy, and $3 off the Advanced Durability.

So things are set up once again to possibly get "free oil" at the end of year clearance sales.

Don't see anything on Rotella or Mobil 1 yet. All of these guys seem to offer oil change coupons up to $15 if you happen to do that.

The rebate limit for QS is $21 which suggests 3 jugs of QSUD. Walmart has been offering jugs at $19.77 for the past week. At $12.77 net, not that bad a deal if you couldn't find QSUD on clearance for $2/qt at AutoZone in December. My Walmarts appear to be out of most of the QSUD except the 10w-30.

I reviewed all 6 pages of last year's thread to see how many people got "screwed" on the SOPUS rebates for oils purchased in 2016. Out of dozens of people that successfully got rebates of up to $40+, there were 2 instances that didn't result in rebates. At least not yet.

Car51 had numerous problems with a QSUD rebate in trying to work with the rebate center and getting information uploaded. In the end they gave up, I probably would have too with what they went through. Still, the the 2 jugs of QSUD they bought for $8 each wasn't actually a loser and they were satisfied with that. With the rebates they would have been $1 each.

ThirdeYe reported that their on-line order was shipped to them without a date on the invoice. And the rebate center wouldn't honor it. Some work was done and dates were added and the rebates resubmitted. There was no follow up post to see how that actually turned out.

The overall report card looked pretty good from here. I just wanted to set this year's record straight before the SOPUS rebate bashers from previous years chime in and say the odds of getting a rebate are stacked against you. They certainly weren't in 2016. To the dozens of those that got rebates, it was certainly worth it. And the majority of them came in within 2-5 weeks, mine included. A few had to make extra efforts in communicating with the rebate center when things got stalled. Most of those worked out. The 2 situations above are the only ones that didn't.

Better results seem to occur with the on-line uploads. Ensure your invoices have store name/location, date, motor oil name/grade/store number. Buying the items in the store seems to be easier. Mail-in rebates can be done. But, if any of your items are lost, you're back to square one with no record of having submitted anything. And for the zillionth time, Walmart IS AN APPROVED retailer, even if they don't show up on the list. For them and those not on the list, select "other." Advanced Auto Parts and Auto Zone aren't on the list either. We'll know in a few weeks if the end of year AutoZone rebates actually follow through with a check.

Agreed. . . SOPUS makes the rebate process much harder than it needs to be. I've been declined a few times when I've been certain that they were qualifying purchases--it's just not worth my time to chase down rebates. SOPUS is probably the worst I've dealt with for their rebates, although I am a fan of their products.

Agreed. To this point of the rebates I've filed recently SOPUS is by far the most inept 'IME'. Documented and posted my recent experience HERE. It may come through at some point, but the two refusal excuses given make me very leery of SOPUS rebates now. I don't mind waiting, that's part of the process. But don't make up bogus excuses about refusals, and that's exactly my experience yesterday. Unacceptable. So I happen to agree with car51 on this point.

As for other rebates filed recently, M1 shows it received and still processing, supposed to wait 8-10 weeks. I fully expect to get it. Same for the Chevron Techron, showing approved and now just waiting on a check. And Discount Tire, by far the best process. Filed online for Black Friday promos, only requirement being an invoice number. Received one rebate card 12/24, second yesterday. DT rules when it comes to rebate fulfillment IME. My .02

I am in the market for a cheap oil, not in a rush and can wait. Which one is cheapest based on this rebate?

Seems like PENNZOIL has no conventional in the rebate list.

Would walmart be my best bet?

Thank you.

Menards sometimes offers Valvoline White Bottle for around $3, if that works for you.

Glad to see that you persevered and eventually won out. That just leaves ThirdeYe as the only one. And they could have received their rebate as well. That's just 1 out of dozens. My last Mobil 1 rebate took 3 months to get to me.

The SOPUS 2016 rebates went smoothly and quickly for 90-95% of those that participated. Nothing works perfectly all the time. One of my Mobil 1 rebates this year got "dropped." It was only after a confirmation and 10 weeks going by without a check that I called to find out what happened. 2 weeks later....and 12 weeks total...a check arrived. Had I not called, it never would have arrived. It happens from time to time. I'd bet 90% of these rebates go through without a hitch. I don't buy into the conspiracy theories.

Thank you for looking that up 69GTX. My rebate from the autozone sale has been approved and shows that a 21 dollar check is in the mail. 15 qts of QSUD 10W30. I uploaded my 2 autozone receipts online on one pdf file.
Here is what I am seeing

$9 net cost after $21 rebate for 15 quarts of QSUD via AutoZone clearance is not a bad deal. 60c per quart! Nice job. I'd have bought any and all QSUD/PP quarts on sale in my area if there were any. Good news is the same deal is in play for 2017. You can repeat what you just in 11 months from now. And many experts say synthetic oil changes are "expensive." Huh? I can't even buy PYB on sale for $1.50/qt...let alone 60 cents.

Can I score something like that? That price is insane....

Trust me this is the first time something like this has happened to me. I thought all the other BITOGers had the luck. I was honestly surprised they honored the rebate after getting it for around 2.20 a quart. Don't worry there will be more deals smile

I always pat myself on the shoulder for scoring PepBoys thanksgiving deals or M1 rebate deals. But since I have joined BITOG, I feel like a dumb guy, who's always overpaying laugh
