I was looking at the latest edition of the PQIA blog and they did a review of 4 oils one being Quantum Max Blend 5W30

I never heard of it and looked at the VOA and said OK good oil , and clicked on the link to the web site

Lo and behold for all of mad scientists that create frankenbrew oil blends a viscosity here is the url:

Why bother?

Viscosity is a moving target throughout the OCI, so unless you know what the viscosity will be at the end of the OCI, then it is still just a stab in the dark.

I guess what I'm sayin is if you are trying for a slightly thicker 30wt without going into the 40wt at the beginning, thats all well and good but you still don't know if it will fall out at the end of the OCI and be into the 20's anyway.

You only know that with a UOA.
