newest report from OAI tells of 4.2% fuel dilution (severity 3) with only 1163 miles. M14t now in.

My 250 (also w/ MCV) showed 3.3% after 28 months in service and 2k miles. My 650 showed 2.7% (MCV) after 23 months, 1366 miles, and engine tune-up/ idling-- that's how I explained it's dilution. The 250 and this 300 i can't.

Dramatic drop in wear metals. The viscosity drop is not that much. I'm not sure how to explain the fuel dilution. Do you have an aftermarket pipe on it? does it have a custom fuel map?

Dave

I too saw that drop in Iron but then I looked at the dates of service for each oil.
The Amsoil was used during the nice warm-hot months and the Kawasaki oil was used as the brutal winter oil so the Kawasaki oil cant fairly be compared to the performance of the Amsoil. Of course also much less mileage ...

Ok, its early and I am still waking up ... so dont flame me if I am missing something here (

The Amsoil was also run for less than half the miles, so Iron looks right on track to be the same at the same miles.

Pretty sure this is a fuel injected parallel twin - is fuel dilution a known issue with these?

Also as Dr Dave asked, is it stock?

completely stock bike. every startup is a minimum 30 minute ride on twisty county roads. fair weather rider also, so no riding below 50 F.
correct parallel twin, FI. kept indoors.

There is no way this is a 50wt with 4% of fuel in it. Normal shearing for a shared sump with no fuel I would say, I don't think this report is 100% correct.
