They are not. Note that the tapping plate design is not the same as the BLUE and the BLUE ONE is actually quite a bit sharper. The way the ADBV fits in these contact with the holes is limited, the valve seals near the threads and on the raised ring outside the holes. I don't believe the ADBV could be pierced, but it could be abraded.

I don't care for the flashing inside the holes either.

Thanks for the report and nice pictures. The flashing inside the holes is the top baseplate piece that forms the crimp with the can at the seam. Purolator has for a long time pressed the baseplate outer piece into the heavy tapping plate holes. Looks fine to me.
