Is diesel fuel from Top Tier stations any different than diesel from non TT stations??

I have no idea about that..
That said all of the TT gas stations here get their diesel from the same independent no matter what brand flag they wave.
And that fuel distributor here offers one grade only.
So given that evidence I would say no............ in my area anyway.

Now a new one has started to move into my county and you can see here they offer
several deviations...

Look under the Premium diesel link-- sold through Citgo it seems

no but i'm sure each brand has their own varying additive packages, just like gasoline.

Well you are in the socialist state of Md. and if there were a special requirement for a different or special diesel, it would be there.:)
Until someone starts marketing something different or special, I guess it is all the same.

Good question. My Costco started carrying Diesel fuel and I have been going there as opposed to Chevron. Was initially worried about the quality as well...but the truck still regens the same mileage with Costco or Chevron...so I think Costco diesel is pretty good. Anybody know about Costco diesel?

Thanks,

Hm, I would think it depends on what refinery produced the diesel. That would be hard to track down, I've read that different companies have small differences in how they refine the crude.

I think each state also has minimum cetane number requirements so this can vary to some degree. For me, it is more about which station moves the most volume so the chance of water in the fuel is minimized, at least to the extent possible noting that ULSD is hygroscopic by its very nature.

^This is the right answer-if you want to try to improve your #2 diesel with Power Service silver bottle, or one of the Stanadyne products, that's the best way to get premium diesel. Just be sure to buy it from a name brand station that sells a LOT of it, & stands behind it if there is a problem.

2ehn is cheap on eBay, and about the best thing you can add to diesel. TopTier or not doesn't really matter much as diesels are very dirty by virtue of being diesel.

The lubricity can be an issue for older diesels such as the Cummins with Bosch VP44 mechanical injector pump. While all diesel fuel should be OK, I am not sure it is. So with a mechanical injector pump I would add 1 oz of TCW-3 oil per gallon of fuel. Cheap insurance.

2-ethylnexyl nitrate, a cetane improver for diesel fuel.

Well I know that when they take out the sulfur you lose the natural lubricants in diesel. The manufacturers are supposed to add lubricants to their diesel. There doesn't seem to be any info on who has the most, best or whatever. I always use Power Service gray bottle in every tank. My engine is quieter with it.
