And?
It's no surprise that times change and automation continues. Not only in China but on a worldwide basis. Everyone is responsible for continuously upgrading their skills-the days of making a career out of mindlessly bolting together widgets has long been over. If you don't adapt your skills to the current market, along with an eye to the future, you'll soon find yourself out of a job.

Kinda crazy that robots are cost-effective even in China. Our unskilled workforce is hit.

There was another article about where a former McDonalds CEO rather pay $35,000 per robot vs pay employees $15 minimum wage. Minimum wage is not supposed to be a living wage. It's time to take up a skill or learn a trade and earn the bigger bucks.

They wouldn't be able to afford their own burgers if they got the wages they want.

If they double the minimum wage like these people want, MY salary will only take me half as far! It's common sense. My company isn't going to volunteer to double MY wage. Why did I bother with a career when we have a self-described socialist making a somewhat credible attempt at the White House? Am I supposed to bust my butt so my kid can grow up in similar conditions to a welfare recipient? mad

This is insane.

The article was about manufacturing, what does that have to do with fast food? Who eats fast food anyway? Yuck.

What's really sad is our education system is not preparing our kids for a fully automated world! There are a lot of courses in school that need to be scrapped in favor or courses that prep a person to service, program, assemble and trouble shoot these new devices. Would it be costly? Yes. Can we afford not to do it? No....

Okay, sounds great. But what do we do with the 60k people? Your upgraded skills mean nothing to a person with a gun.....

I agree with Sir Ed Rense- paying someone 15$/hour for serving fast food is insane. Bring the machines I say.
After that we will need some advance algorithms to replace managers', and relief them from making hard decisions on daily basis. Same for politicians.

World only needs educated, skilled work force with medium income. No blue collar or elite.

I predict that when the Minimum Wage = Living Wage,
the High School Drop-Out Rate will drastically Increase.
What would motivate any High-Schooler to stick around and graduate ? ? ?

Also, the factory of the future will have only 2 employees.
A man and a dog.
The mans job will be to feed the dog.
The dogs job will be to make sure the man doesn't touch anything.
