For what it costs find a good AC shop to diagnose the problem due to the AC being warm.

Your condenser fan always runs if your A/C is on.
Radiator fan cycles off and on.

Maybe a small shot of refrigerant from DIY can ?

Did that once to my 97 Escort. Provided A/C that was far colder and efficient than any Cadillac/ Volvo we rented.

When the A/C turns warm on the Focus, I'll probably do the same with it

Not sure if corrected by 2009, however Honda/Acura had ac relay problems (made in USA part smile ) in my 2007 mdx and had similar symptoms. It was a $9 fix to buy a new ac relay from dealer. Same issue wife's Subaru that mechanic did not diagnose testing everything. Spent $6 on aftermarket relay fine.

Just saying a cheap try before you take it in. Don't blindly add freon.

Little cars usually have just one fan.

If the AC relay is bad, the clutch will not engange.
So, check that first.

Next, you need to get what we call the AC Gauge Manifold.
This is used to measure the low pressure and high pressure of the AC system. They have to be correct depending on the ambient temperature. If not, then there is something wrong.

You need add some refrigerant to top it off and see if the pressure can go steady. If not, then there is a leak somewhere. You need to identify the leak and fix it.

Make sure the clutch can engange and not seizing after there are enough pressure of refrigerant.
If it seized, then you have to change the compressor or just the clutch depending if it is just the clutch.
Now, price of clutch is sometimes more than the whole compressor difference is you have to open the whole system when changing the compressor and you have to do the proper flush and vacuum and replace the dryer.
Then you have to decide if you want to change the condenser.
A lot of the newer design condenser is not flushable.
