Looking for a Merlin Manual in PDF last night (didn't find one), and came across this site which has performance test data for a whole lot of WWII stuff.

Includes the Vampire.

When I was in Air Training Corps (colloquially Air Cadets, in last 2 years of HS), the parade ground had a Vampire on a stick at the end of it.

The specs were really interesting such as aircraft weights and fuel requirements and horsepower ratings, climbing rates and in their day, those planes were the best. How things have changed since the advent of jet fighters and load carrying capabilities. Another 70 years and our stuff today will look slow...good post..

I should book mark that site. The main difference between the Packard and the British engines was that Packard could build them faster because they were mass produced They required less hand fitting of internals because they were built to standard tolerances. Older guys with specs in dirty aprons filing and shimming an engine together. versus parts and assemblies moving down a line.

Shannow not sure if this is what you are looking for it looks like a field maintenance manual to me.

make the inside of your engine oil cap white.
don't use.
