Per TT's tech line M1 15W-50 works well. When I did my first change out at 50 hours it made my K46 MUCH quieter....

I also use my Cub Cadet w/K46 to plow snow in the winter,
Mobil1 0W-40 has worked fine, very smooth even in below freezing weather.
(summer temps here are in the 65-85°F range so not that hot)

If I only ran the tractor in warm/hot weather I'd likely use Mobil1 15W-50 instead.

GC 0W30 in my k46 works great! and eliminated that stupid whine it had as well. totally quiet now. btw they recommend 5W50 but any synthetic oil will be an improvement over the conventional oil in these things. they run hot! i can actually hold my hand on the bottom of it after cutting my .77 acre lot. could not do that before.

+1

I have a K66 in my Deere, but the Castrol 5w50 has worked very well. The transmission was much quieter and more responsive in reverse after doing the fluid change.
