There are no online loop holes. There isn't a gun dealer in the country that will sell you a gun direct without it going to a FFL dealer to complete the transfer.

That's what I though, so every time I hear some statement on TV that makes it sound like you can just get on-line and have a gun delivered to your doorstep somewhat agitates me.

Low information media reporters who know NOTHING about the subject....which is a problem.

Most liberals I know are really shocked when they watch the NICS demo video on Youtube.

Soooo, true! The liberal media loves to barter in mis-information so that it can further it's leftist agenda without having to resort to facts!

I can't tell you how many people think that you can buy online and not go through a dealer. There's nothing wrong with being ignorant of an issue, but it drives me crazy when people spout opinion when they have no idea what they're talking about.

I have bought, and sold, quite a few guns on gunbroker.com (and gunsamerica.com and others) and never had a problem. For the most part, these are good ole boys who believe in America and our rights. They play by the rules, and get the job done. Sure, there's a turd in every place that people gather, but you'll find a lot of really fine people that deal in guns. Not the crazy, zealots, the press would have you believe. Some of the best people I've known were met through online dealings in guns.

OK, liberal media, yada yada yada. There is an old adage that one can light a candle or sit and curse the darkness. In our case, since gun owners are the minority, and will likely always be, if we want the majority to know better; we have to explain it to them better. Now, I know we've got some folks that simply will not entertain anything that goes against their prejudice, but in my experience they can be safely left alone. Find the ones that will entertain a reasoned calm explanation of the way things really are. We can also write letters to the editor, we can blog and tweet and yelp our truth too!

Well I live in an area where the local liberal media continuously publishes non truths about "gun violence" and they do so on purpose. In Cleveland we have a serious black on black gang drug war violence problem which accounts for 90% of all homicides. The local politicians and media spin it to be a gun control issue and attack ccw holders at every turn.

Completely disgusting.

My take from that article is most Americans support guns and gun rights, and reckless gun owners make responsible gun owners look bad. I don't disagree.
If the Government really wanted to do something, they could start with some PSAs like they did with seat belts.

They catch these idiots most of whom are felons and have weapons illegally and then some Judge lets em walk on the gun charges.
Over and over and over until they kill someone...then everybody blames the gun.

In 2012 NICS denied 80,000 people trying to buy guns illegally....the DOJ prosecuted 44

They know gun control won't make a dent in crime. Even socialist, liberal Democrats aren't that stupid. Gun control has nothing to do with guns. It's all about CONTROL. All socialist nations disarm their people. We had to help arm the Brits in the beginning of WW II because they didn't have enough weapons. Then, after the war these same idiots destroyed the weapons we gave them. You cannot teach people what they don't want to learn.

All in all, it sounds like GB is as good as any other way to buy and sell guns. Thanks to all of the posters for the input.

I've bought over 60 handguns and 10 long guns on Gun Brokers, some from private parties, some from dealers and have never had one ounce of trouble on any of them. The biggest share have been auctions with no reserve, and I have to say I've gotten the guns very very cheap and like I said I never have had any trouble. A few have been straight out buy it now. All of the guns have to be shipped to an FFL and Gun brokers has a very good list that you can find one in your area. I can also tell you ,you can find some very good ammo prices too Which here in MN can be shipped right to my door. As for Robenstein if you are on here long enough and read the gun forum enough he has an answer for everything and sometimes 3 or 4 answers. Sometimes a few of them make sense there are times I have to slap my head and wonder where he is coming from. Glen

Gunbroker is fine, just read and re-read each auction. Most sellers that take credit cards will charge a 3% premium on top of your winning bid for the fee that they have to pay the CC company, some do not charge a fee for that. Shipping will vary from a fair $25/$30( for handguns, long guns are more) to really crazy amounts up to &75 plus to ship. I suggest going to a local gunshop or a big box store such as Gander Mt. or Cabelas to handle and ask questions and compare prices before buying online. Just remember that a purchase will be sent to your local FFL to do the transfer and background check and will charge a fee to do that also. Mine charges $27. You have to add all of these thing together when buying online. Also if you buy a firearm from a dealer online that is from your home state you will be required to pay sales tax on top of the auction price and shipping. Read feedback ratings and avoid sellers with (0) ratings, especially if the price is too good to be true. With all that said, I love Gunbroker and use it often to buy and sell. CRAB

I bought a new handgun last year via GB with zero issues. I'd do it again and probably will... I've also bought new magazines for one of my SIG Sauers and the transaction went smoothly.

I like GunBroker.

I use it occasionally for buying and selling firearms. I have a nice preban FAL for sale right now, in fact!

Bought my Swiss K31 on GB. Absolutely painless. Rifle arrived about 10 days after sending off the money order. The seller, Swisswaffen, if you're ever interested, was very pleasant to deal. The K31 is a great rifle, but that's another story.

I would use it again, if I can find anything at a reasonable price...there seem to be a lot of guys who want WAY too much for what they're selling...I follow some of those offerings, for rifles/guns in which I'm interested, and some of them never even get ONE bid...the minimum bid is simply outlandish!

I've used Gunbroker for parts, magazines, etc and gun purchases the last 7 years or so. I even bought a Browning 92 .44Mag from a local guy via GB.

Only encountered 3 issues over those years and really all three ended in my complete satisfaction.

1) I bought a used Camp Carbine 45. Shot a few times long ago and put away dirty. Big deal, but they didn't give me the prized 1911 Marlin magazine as shown in the ad. Got me a little angry. The lady selling the gun said the mag was in the box when she gave it to the FFL in the box. I told her I paid the price with magazine and she understood. I said I can find one for sale and she pay - we agreed. Done. That gun is immaculate.

2) Bought a supposedly working Camp Carbine 9. Showed up - someone had bomb canned the barrel, and a bunch of other issues. Wouldn't work. I contacted the FFL, he said he internet guy goofed up and he refunded me $200. Rebuilt and reblued. Some work, but good gun.

3) Bought 3 supposed S&W Magazines........they were aftermarket, NOT S&W. Guy gave me money back and said keep the magazines. They work fine!

It's worked very well for me for the 3 handguns I've purchased through it. Lets me find the best price (usually Osage County Guns out of Missouri), and shipping has been very fast - 2 or 3 days.

I recommend it.
