Do you have an example of fully synthetic (group IV or V) VW 504.00 motor oil, because all I see are hydrocracked and I wonder if there is any ?

Now I use Shell Helix Ultra Professional AV-L 0w30 (other name Pennzoil Platinum Euro LX SAE 0W-30) for 1.8tfsi VW engine

Redline oils are synthetic, but more importantly than base oil composition would be specifications and builder approvals.

You can easily find an oil claiming to be a real synthetic but that doesn't guarantee anything better than an oil meeting the correct specs and could be worse

You probably wont find an ester longlife oil as ester doesn't do long drain intervals very well. Mobil is a G4/G3 blend as far as i know. Like the other chap said, getting the correct application is the most important part.

If you are on fixed interval servicing the best oil for the 1.8TSi engines in the Superb's is 5w-40 VW502.00.

For longlife servicing you'll need the VW504.00 5w-30.

that's why I was looking for fully synt. that meets 504.00spec

Shell Helix Ultra Professional AV-L 0w30 looks for me the best 504.00 oil available

Is it possible that some day a spec will be so demanding that a fully synthetic oil won't be able to meet it?

what's the difference between VW 505.00 and VW 504.00?

As I know of q PAO/ester oil meeting 505.00 in 0w30

For the 504/507 VW specifically wants 5W30 grade and GrIII base stock. Nothing else gets approved. That's why all you see is gr3.
It's the way the add pack was tested and the car testing as well.

Red Line 5W30 Euro is mostly PAO with a good dose of polyol ester and it is an upgrade over any approved product.
The GTL 0w30 from shell is also an upgrade.

There is no VW oil that needs PAO/Ester formulation. Most are attainable with Gr2 but are allowed gr3. 0W30 506.01 is likely the most demanding for base stock but still not necessarily true syn.

VW 504.00/507.00 can be GrIII, IV or V.

I saw 504/507 oils with high % of PAO (statoil, neste, millers) so there are some

VW 504.00 is a low SAPS oil spec that is used in gasoline engines.
VW 505.00 is a mid or full SAPS oil used in diesel engines.
