Oddly, my 2013 GTI came with a full size spare. It's a 205/55/16 V rated French made Bridgestone on a steel wheel and balanced. It has a yellow 50MPH sticker on it. Whats's weird is that my car came with H rated DunlopSP Sport 01 A/S tires with a mountain snowflake symbol on them. I think VW chose the Dunlop's for Quebec's winter tire law.

I've seen similar.

VW just puts whatever tire is most commonly installed as the spare for all of them. Like you said, the local winter tire law is probably why your road tires are H-rated Dunlops.

The 50 mph sticker is just in case the spare isn't the same size as the road tires.

That would be my guess. And the sticker is probably a standard thing that just gets automatically affixed. Plus if its on an AWD or other vehicle (may come from the parts bin), mismatched tires may cause issues.

Its a full size spare. The 50mph sticker is probably another silly gooberment mandate, where people holding pencils tell people that hold wrenches how to do their jobs. I'd tear it off
