His car is under warranty. That's why he is doing it at 3k miles for that reason. Outside of his warranty he would very likely go longer if it not for that. He seemed to infer that by his wording about going only three thousand miles.

I'm doing the 3000mi OCI for my warranty and the high performance 4-cyl turbo. I would run it longer if everything including viscosity looks good. Yes I am studying how different 5w-30 oils perform in my engine & with my driving habits.

Pennzoil is really making top notch synthetics these days. They are definitely among the best. I give Mobil 1 the edge because they offer more 0w grades. The 25% cleaner pistons was also based on regular Mobil 1, and not EP. So there is some slick marketing in there, but regardless, Pennzoil has an excellent line of oils. Up there with the best of them....
