Need a filter for new Tahoe.

We bought a 2007 Chevy Tahoe last week and the AC Delco filter is a PF48. I can't find an PF 48 anywhere. I've tried some cross-referencing but can't seem to locate another quality filter. Fram and STP are pretty easy to find but not what I want to use.

I'm not real keen on buying one from the dealer either, unless its my only choice.

Any recommendations on a replacement for a PF 48?

Wix catalog number is 57060. It is not available yet but hopefully will be soon.

Try us for NG/Wix filters.The Wix number is a 57060. The only problem is taht they have not released the filter. This could take a week or a few months. I don't know.

After I left for work this afternoon, I came up with the solution.
Buy a PF 48 from the dealer; I know it hurts price wise.
When you get it home, measure the outside diameter of the can.
Then the diameter of the seal.
Then try to figure out the thread diameter and pitch. If you have a hardware store handy, take filter there. they have bolts in all common sizes. If it's a 3/4-16 use that number.
If it's a metric thread, things may be harder.
Most hardware stores might not have a bolt in that large a metric size.
A machine shop might have a thread gauge though.

Reason for this testing is:
it may be a new 'style' filter, not necessarily a new size filter.(it could be both).
Once you find out those sizes, you can use a master catalog that had the filter specs. in the back and find a common filter to cross with.
Given that Fram has such a big part number suggests it's a new style (e-core?)

sometimes the dealer is cheaper than auto parts stores. i got an ac filter for my solstice a $1.75 cheaper than autozone

Hopefully when Pep Boys starts to carry this filter it'll be the same as their other AC filters. I didn't see one for more than about $5

Alot of times they have coupons for the AC at $2.50 a piece.

Where is Wix typically sold?

As this is a new (2007) truck with a new/different filter, the aftermarket suppy channels will take a while to catch up.
The dealer may be the only local source for this filter for a few months.

I called my local AC Delco retailer whom I do business with frequently, PF48 his price is $4+tax. What does a dealer want for it?

I broke down and bought one from the dealer. I was amazed at how inexspensive it was. I was expecting $10-12 but it was only $5.75.

How is it any different that the previous filters?
If GM changed it's filters on all V-8s, there must be a reason.

Isn't the change to metric threads the difference and a bypass valve @ 8psi based on the above spec?

2006 and before had an internal bypass valve. The 2007's depend on the filter. And yes, the threads are now metric.
